Siberia (1893)

This large-scale map of Siberia stretching over northern Eurasia, can be found in Sex år i Sibirien [Six years in Siberia] written by Johannes Granö and published in 1893.

Marked to the very east of the map is the island of Sakhalin located north of Japan. To the northeast one can find the Kamchatka Peninsula and to the southeast the northern part of the Manchuria region. To the northwest of the map are the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, the Kola peninsula and the city of St. Petersburg. The provinces (“oblast”) of Uralsk, Turgai, Akmolinsk and Semipalatinsk in present-day Kazakhstan are marked to the southwest of the map and Irkutsk province to the center. The travel route of the author is marked in red in the center of the map, passing through the Altai Mountains, the cities of Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Tobolsk and the Ural Mountains, before continuing to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
