Sketch-Map of Parts of Central Asia and East Asia (1945)
This map of Mongolia and Sinkiang can be found in an appendix to Travels and Archaeological Field-Work in Mongolia and Sinkiang: A Diary of the Years 1927-1934, written by the archaeologist Folke Bergman and published in 1945. The map is a complement to the author’s detailed accounts of three expeditions to Mongolia and Sinkiang during 1927-1934 under the leadership of Dr. Sven Hedin. It is a detailed map with a great many names of valleys, ranges, larger areas (the Gobi desert, Nan Shan, Alakshan. Sui Yuan, etc.) as well as towns and villages (Urumchi, Turfan, Charkhliq, Wu Yuan, etc.). Temples, ruins, and ancient Chinese walls can also be spotted on this map, where Folke Bergman’s own travel routes are marked with red lines.
