This map of the Cherchen oasis can be found in appendix to the third volume of Труды тибетской экспедиции 1889-1890 гг. подъ начальствомъ М. В. Певцова [Works of the Tibetan expeditions 1889–1890 under the leadership of M. V. Pevtsov] edited by M. V. Pevtsov and published by the Russian Geographical Society in 1896.

This is a map of the Cherchen oasis which is located southeast of the Takla Makan desert. The travel route of Russian explorer and member of the Tibetan expedition, Roborovski is marked from the town of Niya to the southwest of the map, to the town of Cherchen, today known as Qiemo, which is marked to the north of the map. From Cherchen Roborovski’s travel route continues to the south, following the Cherchen River, and then to the west, crossing the Altyn Tagh ridge. Additionally, this map contains markings for points of astronomical measurements, salt mines and gold mines.

Five other maps are appended to this volume illustrating areas around the Keriya River, Przhevalsky Mountains in southeast Sinkiang, Altyn Tagh, Konche River and Bagrash-Kul Lake.
